I have decided to search the uk for a center willing to give me an FMRI scan for psychopathy. The NHS has refused to do this preferring to accept the opinion of a psychiatrist rather than give an available physical test. This would not happen for any other diagnosis that is physical. Research has shown the brains of psychopaths function differently to non psychopaths.

I am so distressed by the diagnosis which I believe is incorrect that I will if i can pay for the test myself. If anyone has any information on where I can have this test done I would be grateful if you let me know, many thanks.

I think it is shocking that the NHS do not do this test. This is part of the reason I believe the controversial diagnosis is being used as a tool of control and an excuse to manage and interfere in the lives of people deemed a nuisance. As well as being a psychological attack on some ones sense of self.

The NHS is spending a lot of tax payers money on research into psychopathy. A proportion of that money goes on research in FMRI scans at places such as london dept of forensic and neurodevelopmental sciences Kings college london, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust , The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience and many other research programmes that are tax payer funded. It spends all that money but refuses to give the FMRI scan to someone it has diagnosed. What is the point of spending tax payers money then ?

I would challenge (that’s the psycho in me) the Consultant psychiatrist to back up his opinion with the physical test.

Of the available facilitys that do FMRI scanning I have received refusals from

The NHS, Newcastle University, Exeter Univesity, Wolfson brain imaging center, Nuffield Health,
